Hmm... tough question, huh! I'll try to answer anyway.

The point of living is to live the life as best as we can, because the most important thing is how, as human being, we contribute ourselves to others.
As you said, during life we have something and after life we have everything. So, why don't we make 'the something' valuable, whether it is done for our self or others? As for me, I don't want 'the something' I did during life become everything bad after I die.

Hopefully you can get what I mean. Haha...
